Door Hangers and Christmas Ornaments

  • Sep. 25th, 2009 at 1:04 PM
It is going to be Christmas very soon and I was approached to come up with ideas for a children's workshop for the Christmas season. Amongst the ideas i submitted, these two are perhaps my favourite.

The first item is a door hanger. I saw many beautiful examples online and decided to make my own. I decided not to add any sentiment or title to mine as I am not sure where I would want to hang it yet. If you are keen to make your own, you can always drop me a comment and I can send you the template for it.

The next item I really love is something I have been making for a while. It is a photo/Christmas ornament where you can insert a photo in place of the stamped image if you wish. I like it for its simplicity and versatility. It can also be converted to a photo album display if you wish.

It is actually two-sided so you can choose to display a stamped image on one side and a photo on the other. Both items will be available for custom orders on the Gifts of Love website. Do pop by for a look-see if you are already considering Christmas cards and gifts. We have already put up our Christmas cards available for pre-orders. If you place an order before 31 Oct, we will be offering a 10% discount for the order.

Happy crafting!

This is so exciting. Not been out in quite some time due to my fractured ankle. Finally regained some mobility, though I still need to be on crutches from time to time. After last weekend's duo workshop, it is some down time this week, preparing for the up and coming Singapore Arts Street 2009.

This year, my fellow crafters and myself will be taking part in the event that is held at the Marine Parade Promenade. We will be selling our rubberstamping supplies such as stamps and ink, in addition to our handcrafted cards. We are also going to offer some hands-on activities where you can choose to make a bookmark, a postcard, greeting card or a mini journal. There will be lots of other artists and crafters gathered there to share their passion and ideas. Dp pop by if you wish to experience an arty and crafty day.

It was a long and tiring day yesterday, but so worth all the effort. =)

I had my first Parchment Craft class since we started Craft Atelier, along with a Basics II class for rubberstamping. It is an encouraging development for us. Though we started Craft Atelier a few months ago, it has been quite a challenge balancing our day job with this extended hobby of ours. I am so happy we finally are making progress in providing a wide variety of workshops in different crafts for like-minded individuals.

I certainly hoped my students enjoyed the lessons and creating beautifully crafted items. I am looking forward to more crafting time with future students in the class. Hmmm... if I can only find my dream apartment now. =) Then I can set up my own studio at home and have more craft lessons =)

I have been out of action for the last 3 weeks as I fell and broke my ankle. The surgery was quite scary as it was the first one I had to undergo. Well, 3 weeks into recovery and I am able to move my ankle a bit. Hopefully, another 3 weeks later I will be able to start walking again. =)

On to more exciting news! Craft Atelier will be having our House Party this coming Sat, to mark out 6-month anniversary. If you interested in attending, please drop us a mail via the website.

Extra Workshop on 7 Mar plus updates

  • Mar. 4th, 2009 at 6:10 PM
There will be an extra Basics I rubberstamping workshop this Sat from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. The workshop fee is $50. You can either sign up with me or do so via the Craft Atelier website.

This would be the 4th Basics I class we are running since Jan. It is indeed a good start for Craft Atelier and we are very much looking forward to meeting more like-minded people who are keen to take up the craft. On the topic of rubber stamping, we have brought in more craft tools and materials and they are all posted on the online shop. If you are shopping around for stamps, inks and accessories etc, do pop by to take a look.

Another exciting development for Craft Atelier is possibly conducting lessons for students in school who are participating in NYAA and keen to pick up a new skill. If you are a current student who has no idea what to put in your portfolio for the NYAA, you can put us on your teacher's radar. =) We are writing in to schools to propose conducting workshops in schools, short regular sessions every 3 weeks or so to introduce students to rubber stamping. If you are a school teacher who is in charge of the NYAA, or have a friend who is an NYAA co-ordinator do drop us a mail to find out more details.

More Ditty Bags!!

  • Feb. 22nd, 2009 at 1:09 PM
I had such a fun time shopping for yarn a few weeks back as I found pretty yarn on sale in a shop. Decided to make use of them to make small ditty bags. They were the perfect item for the yarn as each bag took exactly a ball so there was little to no wastage of yarn.

I began selling these bags a few years back, mainly as lunch pouches to the working crowd. They can comfortably hold a small wallet/purse for change, handphone, keys and tissue etc. I will be placing them on sale at the Gifts of Love site.

http://giftsoflove.oursecrethaven.com/

They are at $12 each. You can also place customised orders if you have special requests for yarn type and colour.

Oh yes, some updates on the stuff available on the site. Another crafty person has joined us and will be selling her arigurumi creations. You can view her completed items on the Gifts of Love site. Do pop by for a look!
